It was around 7 pm on a Wednesday and though we were guaranteed a dry and fresh day, it hadn't stopped raining! Brian and I were resting there talking over the footy results, ready for the next job of the day to arrive. Finally we had the call from a lady on a business expedition who had gone to the Tesco petrol garage in Thornhill Edge and filled petrol in her diesel Fiat lease car by mistake. The unfortunate lady was somewhat irritated it seemed, telling me "I can't believe that I've destroyed the car! I am just so accustomed to filling up my petrol vehicle I completely didn't remember I was running a diesel!" We told her to settle back and not to be concerned, plus that these things sadly can happen. She was able to maneuver the vehicle to a safe spot and, since it was just a few minutes away from our van, we were able to find the lady almost instantly. The incorrect fuel was cleaned up and removed so she was able to get back to the motel she was staying at. Even though we got very wet, it was all worth the time to watch her drive off relaxed and less anxious. Another misfuel correction in West Yorkshire done well in my opinion!

I'd had a great afternoon hiking on my day off and felt delighted the following day as I set off to aid a young couple vacationing in Thornhill Edge. They'd pulled over after filling diesel into their Smart, and they were close to half an hour away. I got there at their position and smiled while I listened to the girl berating her man for actually being so daft. "Just how could you possibly find a way to fill the vehicle up using the wrong fuel?" she said to him. I wanted to explain that this kind of thing takes place on daily basis in West Yorkshire and that it is nothing at all to be concerned about, but he still got his ear bent. Poor boy. At any rate, I drained the contaminated fuel, gave the engine a flush and filled it up with the appropriate fuel. While watching them drive down the road I shouted bon voyage and considered what my wife would ask me if perhaps I made the very same blunder... I'd under no circumstances live it down!
